Every child received a free activity booklet packed with entertaining challenges, including mazes, word searches, Tic-Tac-Toe, secret code puzzles and other fun activities, allowing children to continue the fun both at the centre and at home. To add to the excitement, Event Cinemas double passes to Minions & Monsters, released on 25 June, were also given away as prizes throughout the promotion.

Messy Missions

Messy Mission sessions continue to attract excellent attendance, with around 25 children participating at every session. Held on the third Saturday of each month, July’s workshop tied in perfectly with the school holidays, featuring plenty of Minion-inspired messy fun, including an abundance of googly eyes!

Messy play provides children with valuable opportunities to learn through exploration. Activities help support brain development, strengthen fine motor skills and encourage creativity and emotional expression. By experimenting with materials such as water, sand and paint, children discover cause and effect, while pouring, scooping and sorting activities introduce early mathematical and scientific concepts such as volume, weight and classification. Most importantly, the sessions provide a fun, engaging environment where children can learn through play.

Bricks4Kidz Workshops

In mid-June, WestCity trialled its first Bricks4Kidz workshop outside Woolworths, providing local families with a free, hands-on activity designed to encourage creativity, problem-solving and imaginative play through LEGO® building. The workshop attracted a steady stream of children throughout the session, with many families staying to build, create and learn together.

The response from both children and parents was overwhelmingly positive, with many participants commenting on how much they enjoyed the interactive experience. It was fantastic to see children of all ages immersed in building challenges while parents and caregivers joined in or watched proudly from the sidelines. The workshop created a vibrant atmosphere within the centre and reinforced WestCity’s commitment to delivering engaging experiences that bring the community together.

Following the success of the inaugural workshop, Bricks4Kidz has now become a regular monthly feature at WestCity. The free workshops are held on the first Saturday of every month from 12.00pm to 2.00pm, giving families another great reason to visit the centre while enjoying a fun, educational and interactive activity together.
